In a Split second Beirut’s heart was once more shattered on August 4th, 2020.
But something unexpected happened
There is a small bright light that burns in the heart of woman & man, a star seed that will not be extinguished no matter how dark the world becomes. There is a ‘Je ne sais quoi’ in the human spirit that survives and prevails;
This film & space are dedicated to bearing witness to what it is.
In the aftermath of Beirut Port Explosion, the third largest explosion in the World, the Beirutis were left fending for themselves in the absence of any State response.
A few days later, volunteers from 17 countries showed up to stand by Beirut’s residents and help rebuild entire traditional neighborhoods devastated by the Blast. IT TAKES A LOT OF HANDS follows these Volunteers carrying the Torch of the Joy of giving in a closed fisted world, transforming the darkest hours into a Solidarity Fest.

Hope was hard to find in Beirut on August 4 , 2020… and Heroism is a word we confer upon people who Seldom call themselves heroes! I stumbled into hope against hope and documented what can happen against all odds.
Bearing Witness to people transcending their own tragedy to support others & the Joy found in Volunteering, in belonging to something larger than themselves triggering a ripple effect which turned the darkest hours into A Lighthouse.
A circle of kind souls who came together with open hearts and helping hands. Each one carries a story of love, resilience, and compassion — united by a shared purpose to heal, rebuild, and bring light back to Beirut.
Come be a part of this journey of healing and unity. We invite you to witness the film, share in the reflections, and add your voice to our collective hope.
